The Conn, Miller, and Mann Families
Dr. Robert Conn (Bob) was diagnosed with ALS in 2010. He was a leading cardiologist in the Kansas City area, and a three-sport athlete in college. His daughter Linda said, “He was the epitome of health and fitness, but ALS has no limits on whom it chooses to afflict.”
The Conn’s were not familiar with ALS. Bob’s daughter, Linda said, “At the time of diagnosis, we were aware of ALS, but only through the work of George Brett and Tom Watson.”
“This reality of ALS hit our family hard.”
The ALS Association Mid-America Chapter reached out to Bob and his family, and provided resources and services to help Bob with the progression of the disease. Linda said The Chapter’s, “care and support team were a lifeline for my dad and my mom, as well as our whole family.”
“After my dad died our family wanted to honor him by continuing the fight against ALS.”
Over the years, the Conn, Miller, and Mann families have supported and participated in many Chapter events. Their team, “Bob’s Battalion,” has been a top fundraising team for several years at The Kansas City Walk to Defeat ALS.
In addition, the Conn, Miller, and Mann families are regulars at the annual Night of Hope Gala. Linda said, “It’s been a worthwhile family tradition and a worthwhile cause in hopes for a cure.”
